2026 Service Updates
Effective January 1, 2026, the service fee for Royston Curbside Collection will increase from $4.44 per week to $4.88 per week. These fee updates reflect the increased costs of providing the service and the costs associated with renewing the collection contract. This adjustment ensures that Royston residents continue to receive high-quality service at the most competitive rates.
Coming Soon - Automated Curbside Collection
Starting June 3, 2027, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) will be rolling out an automated curbside collection service for Royston. Each residence will receive a set of three new wheeled carts:
New! Organics Co-Mingled Food & Yard Waste – Green Lid |360 L
Recycling – Blue Lid | 360L
Garbage – Black Lid | 120 L
New trucks, which use a mechanical arm to pick up and empty the carts, will replace manual collection. Automated collection is more reliable, faster, and helps improve workers health and safety. Organic carts will be equipped with locks to help prevent wildlife interactions.

What Goes Where
Many unwanted items can be kept out of our landfills to conserve capacity and benefit our community and environment. Find out what items go where and what’s allowed in your bins using the search tool below.
Many provincial recycling programs are limited to residential waste and may have size, quantity, labelling or other restrictions. Locations, hours, fees, and accepted items are subject to change. We recommend always checking a drop-off location's website or calling ahead.
