Voter Eligibility

Provincial legislation gives eligible BC residents the right to vote in local elections, by-elections, and assent (referendum) voting. This right is subject to certain restrictions, limitations, and requirements. Voting rights are granted based on residency or property ownership. There is no corporate or business vote in local elections.

The Comox Valley Regional District uses same-day voter registration. Voters cannot register in advance to vote in the election. At the time the elector wishes to vote, they must present acceptable identification at the voting station. See below for more details.
